Public housing in the South. Voting
The dire need for public housing in the South is not just a need for improvement in the lives of the low-paid and unemployed,it is a need for a change of direction in government policy in the South.
Too much emphasis has been placed on private provision and huge amounts of vulture capital have been attracted to the construction and rental housing sector in the Republic of Ireland. This is simply wrong and charts a path by way of grossly inflated values and enormous speculation to a mighty crash. There is no point in me or anyone on the left gainsaying that we are being listened to because we are not. An inflationary cycle has been entered into. The model for what is about to happen should be Britain in 1987 when Thatcher's inflationary cycle led to interest rates of 27%.
Let us turn our focus-I am thinking particularly of Fianna Fail- to the poor family and let Fianna Fail rediscover it's old vigour for public housing. Fianna Fail is,as everyone with one brain cell knows, the only party which can get anything done in the South.
Sinn Fein? A party of the working class?
Let us have done with vague filibustering from those who have no record of delivery, slaves to an armed struggle whose ugly side Sinn Fein has repeatedly glossed over and is trying to obscure. The IRA was the outgrowth of a US death-cult that celebrated its brutal and barbaric activities in Vietnam with reports of body-counts.
Irishmen,do not fool yourselves. Sinn Fein and its shabby compromise with imperialism set the North on the road to thousands of premature deaths, people cut down in their prime.
Sinn Fein gangsters as arbiters of health?
If you want a brother or sister plucked from your midst by the police or health system,by all means vote for a party which has brought that situation in the North. If you value your freedom, vote Fianna Fail and give your support to the Labour Party. Sinn Fein is a coalition of special interest groups. It stands for a past which never existed,a fantasy island.
