Solace, comfort and support -the proposal for Community Mental Health Teams in the South
The measure of a civilised society is how it looks after the poor while protecting the wider public from the waste associated in some people's minds with socialised medicine. The latter is particularly important to the small farmer and middle class in Ireland because he rejects paying tax for moonshine. (For a multitude of largely historical reasons, let the 'hungry' farmer be told to keep his distance from normal political affairs and public discourse. When the farmer does not,he speaks with the voice of Mob).
The proposal,Southern-style,for Community Mental Health Teams to be established in all areas should be rolled out with definite protections for instances of corporate defamation. (Recent experience of difficulty for myself which is so evident to those around me but to which I am often so blind, has changed my mind.)
The bigger scenario
I propose a Grand Coalition of Fianna Fail,Labour,Social Democrats and Independents to lay the basis for a free healthcare system for those under 18 years.
Let us also launch a programme for public hospital building, perhaps twenty new state-of-the-art general hospitals at current costs of € 50 billion. A recession on a grand scale is coming. Let us do as Stalin did in the 1930's and invest in public capital stock.
But where is the money to come from,I hear you ask?
From stopping the outflow of capital to imperialist exploiters and foreign bandits such as the English. They are our mortal foes. Reciprocal trade and arrangements with regard to capital movements, only.
If the productive classes are to pay for such an enormous Age of Improvement, then, within certain limits to be determined by workers and government, trade unions should be free to recruit on the twenty sites.Building site accidents are on the rise again,up by 4.3%. Let the Watchword of Labour be:Safety First.
