The South's backwardness  and the reactionary nature of this U.S.'clent state is brought about by the drive to push the poor below the level of subsistence in the drive to accumulate capital. That occurs at the instigation of politicians,policemen and male teachers. Those people are the beasts who send the poor to terrorise and spy on voices for change and to intimidate the proponents of social progress.

Fast forward from Dublin in the early nineties to my later part in change...

In my unfolding drama of Sinn Fein election proposals of 2009 I argued for the appointment of School Attendance Officers and Educational Compliance Officers.

 Gorbachev saw that social change is from bottom-up social movement, democratic social campaigning by grassroots organisations and from above by organised social philanthropy,taxation and social investment. In our country there will be no change without dedicated independent community organisations and no enhanced  social provision without social altruism.

In Ireland,we have a long history of clerical altruism which is giving way to social altruism. 

At a real level we say that the Southern state is not sustaining the poor to acceptable standards. It sets out a social mean which pushes the poor and marginalised beneath subsistence level. The wit and wisdom of the country clown and urban hick in the Dail is based on old nationalist slogans and homilies which have the potential to drag us back to a primitive,rackrenting society.

All things being equal,let the poor be encouraged to set their sights high on work and employment.

Unemployed communities can not improve their standing without the teaching in schools of cookery,household economics and domestic science. In this regard the teaching of Civics in the South of Ireland sets a fine example.

Change?

From without and within education for young children. Let us try, economic circumstances permitting,to ameliorate the situation of poor children.

The South in its proper context

The armies of layabouts and dole imposters who haunt the cities of the West in search of comfort are ready material for criminals and those who mediate for them before the courts.

The street urchin and waif bring into life the CORNERBOY and the across the street shouter and doorbanger. That type develops into the low level criminal and thug and cutthroat who has to be locked up intermittently for the protection of the public.

The Dunnes and Cahills of Dublin find raw material to be worked up into their street runners for drugs in the children abandoned to the care of society by teachers and legislators and multifarious forms of professionals. 

Amongst those drawn into the mind games of theatre workers and television dramaturgs on our streets,we count the categories of intelligent miscreant. Those people are generally classed as the petite bourgeois and the declassed intelligentsia.

Why do we witness the proliferation of Gardai street 'players' in times of economic crisis and great social harm?

It is because Southern society is based on the minimum state with certain adaptions forced on it by the European Union. (At one time the Catholic Church ameliorated social conditions. The Church and rightwing politicians -I am thinking in particular of Ahern and Reynolds,Lawlor and Burke, Cooney and O Dee-had a lot of influence on policing policy. That occurred much to the detriment of working people but with their political consent.)

 Why should the Church-State symbiosis still be such a running sore?

 The Churchmen are notorious for having agnostics sacked and blacklisted in collaboration with conservative politicians.

Southerners,if you ever wish to rise above the level of bogman or country wiseacre you must apply yourself to intelligent pursuits not the cynical activities of the GAA and dramatic fronts for Irish Military Intelligence and the American Government.

That is all that the pocketful of jumbles your Irish identity amounts to.

Stop dreaming and grow up and pass no remarks on bastards like Sean and Peter Quinn and the new brand of spivs with knuckledusters and cutthroat razors who want all for themselves by sending  waifs into action and ignore a few greedy farmers in Cork and riffraff in Cork City and other large towns.

The end of foreign investment in Ireland and the end of technical transfers

 The 'plan' of July-August 1988 to endow the South with my stipendium for the break-up of the Eastern bloc for a duration of twenty-five to thirty years has been a failure.
